An AI Learning Lab with Fundació Bofill to eliminate the tasks everyone hates
Fundació Bofill, a Catalan foundation that promotes educational equity, wanted to understand how artificial intelligence could enhance its work and foster a culture of innovation across the organization.
Sociopúblico designed a Custom AI Learning Lab to help teams from research, administration, communications, policy, and programme units explore how AI could strengthen their projects and daily routines. We began by asking participants to list the tasks they most hated doing, and then analysed which of those had the highest potential for automation.

The Lab combined short training sessions, creative brainstorming, and one-on-one mentoring to explore real use cases and prototype initial solutions. Participants explored how generative AI could support evidence synthesis, automate repetitive workflows, generate web analytics reports, produce financial projections, and expand access to information about the foundation’s own projects. Experimentation played a key role throughout the process, encouraging teams to learn by testing, failing fast, and iterating on promising ideas.
Each team left with a concrete implementation plan outlining steps for responsible adoption aligned with Bofill’s mission and values. Three months after the AI Learning Lab, we met again with the teams to review their progress. Concrete outcomes included hiring a research profile with expertise in AI, launching a project to improve the foundation’s web tagging system, and developing a new knowledge platform powered by automated search and retrieval tools.
The process helped transform initial curiosity into practical capability—and positioned Fundació Bofill as an early adopter of human-centred innovation in the education sector.
