How We Helped the IDB Build an AI-Driven Knowledge Ecosystem

The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) set out to redefine how it manages and shares internal knowledge. Leveraging artificial intelligence, the Bank aimed to build a centralized, user-friendly platform that would connect knowledge and operations across the organization.

The goal was to enhance access, organization, and utilization of institutional knowledge combining operational and analytical data with AI-driven search and insight capabilities.

Working alongside the Knowledge and Learning Division, Sociopúblico led the concept and prototype development using a human-centered design approach within an agile framework. The process included extensive user research, journey mapping, benchmarking, and iterative prototyping with over twenty high-level stakeholders.

Through multiple testing rounds and feedback loops, the prototype evolved to maximize usability, efficiency, and alignment with user needs. Sociopúblico also contributed to defining the governance model, strategic communication plan, and performance indicators for the platform’s future implementation.

The outcome was a strategic foundation for an AI-powered knowledge ecosystem within the IDB—one designed to make institutional intelligence searchable, connected, and actionable. By blending human expertise with artificial intelligence, the Knowledge Platform enables IDB teams to access, systematize, and apply knowledge more effectively across the region.
